Avocado Leaf Tea Benefits: The Earthy, Comforting Cup Behind Emerald Veil

Avocado Leaf Tea Benefits: The Earthy, Comforting Cup Behind Emerald Veil

Of all six botanicals in the Garden Collection, avocado leaf tea tends to surprise people the most. There's no fruit in the cup, no creaminess, nothing that hints at guacamole  just a deep, earthy warmth that feels more like a forest than a fruit tree.

Emerald Veil is our single-ingredient infusion made from hand-selected avocado leaves, grown in the same Cameroonian hills where the rest of our garden comes from.

What Is Avocado Leaf Tea?

Avocado leaf tea is brewed from the dried leaves of Persea americana, the avocado tree an entirely different part of the plant from the fruit most people know it for. The flavor is soft and grounding, often described as earthy or slightly woody, with none of the richness associated with avocado itself.

Because it's made from a leaf rather than Camellia sinensis, it's naturally caffeine-free.

A Tradition Rooted in the Highlands

Avocado trees thrive across Cameroon's cooler highland regions, and using the leaves not just the fruit has long been part of home preparations in Central Africa and parts of Latin America, where avocado also grows widely. It's a practice built on using the whole tree, not just the part that ends up in the market.

What's Inside the Leaf

Avocado leaves contain natural plant compounds, including flavonoids and tannins, and have traditionally been valued in home remedies for their calming, grounding character. Scientific research into avocado leaf specifically is still limited compared to better-studied botanicals, so it's best approached as a comforting ritual rather than a treatment. If you're pregnant, nursing, or managing a health condition, check with your doctor before adding it to your routine.

Why Emerald Veil Is Different

  • Whole, hand-selected leaves, dried close to where they're grown
  • Single-origin, fully traceable to Cameroon
  • One ingredient only  no blending, no added flavoring
  • A grounding, earthy cup with a naturally soft finish

How to Brew It

  1. Measure: a pinch of loose leaves (about 2g) into your infuser or teapot
  2. Pour: 250ml of boiling water over the leaves
  3. Steep: 5–7 minutes; steep longer for a deeper, more robust cup
  4. Sip: slowly, it's a tea that rewards a quiet moment

A Few Ways to Enjoy It

  • Evening wind-down: the earthy character makes it a natural end-of-day cup
  • Rainy afternoons: comforting and warming without any caffeine to keep you up later
  • With a splash of milk: some drinkers find the earthy notes pair surprisingly well with a little oat or dairy milk, more like a tisane than a traditional tea
